Not covered by insurance

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What conditions do compression garments help treat?

A: Compression garments are commonly used to treat lymphedema, hereditary lymphedema, post mastectomy lymphedema syndrome, and other postprocedural complications and disorders of the circulatory system. They may also support recovery after injury or improve comfort for people who stand or sit for long periods.

Q: What compression level do I need?

A: Compression levels are measured in mmHg (millimeters of mercury). Your doctor will recommend a level based on your diagnosis.

15–20 mmHg: Mild support (daily wear, travel) *Not covered by insurance*

20–30 mmHg: Moderate compression (varicose veins, mild lymphedema)

30–40+ mmHg: Firm to strong compression (chronic conditions, post-surgical)

Q: Will my insurance cover compression garments?

A: Yes, many insurance plans—including Medicare and Medicaid—cover compression garments when they are medically necessary and prescribed by a physician. We’ll take care of all documentation, approvals, and billing coordination.

Q: Do I need a custom-fitted garment?

A: Not always. Some patients benefit from ready-to-wear options, while others—especially those with irregular limb shapes or advanced lymphedema—need custom garments for the best fit and effectiveness. Our specialists will guide you during your fitting.

Q: Can someone come to my home to measure me?

A: No, we offer in-office fittings at no cost to you. We’ll measure your limb(s), assess your condition, and help you choose the right garment type and compression level.

Q: How long will it take to receive my garments?

A: Once your insurance approves the order, garments are usually delivered and fitted 5-7 business days after insurance authorization. Custom garments take approximately 6-8 weeks.

Q: How long do compression garments last?

A: Most garments last about 3–6 months with daily wear. They should be replaced regularly to maintain proper compression. We can set you up with a reordering schedule based on your insurance coverage. Insurance will cover replacement garments every 6 months.

Q: Are compression garments hard to put on?

A: Some higher-compression garments can be snug, but we offer donning aids and training to make it easy. Wraps are also available for those with limited hand strength or dexterity.
